Easy to use advanced search functions
When revenue comes from placing clients into jobs, ensuring that candidates can find and apply to relevant posts is critical. The UX design of the Flourish job finder was created to make this process as simple as possible.
Users can search for jobs by keyword, subject contract type, distance and location, or by popular searches used by other people.
Real-time auto-updating of jobs
Originally admin staff had to manually post jobs to job posting sites, as well as to their website, a lengthy process that was costing lots of time and money.
To solve this problem Flourish embedded Matchmakers advanced recruitment software to manage their jobs. We then integrated with this service to automatically load and update posts as and when they are updated, eliminating the need for the client to perform this task manually.
Super simple and effective job pages
The look and feel of the job pages are deliberately straightforward, with a strong contrasting colour for the primary call to action - applying for the position.
This design makes it easy to candidates to learn about the job, navigate around the site, and ultimately submit their CV; the page also translates very well onto which has increased conversion rates.

Our original Flourish Education homepage and the overall website wasn’t well utilised. We felt it lacked in certain areas and was in need of re-development. Receiving regular high-quality candidate CV's is critical to our business model, so candidate registration had to be as simple as possible. Our revenue comes from placing candidates into jobs, so we wanted the ability to search for jobs quickly from the home page, which was not available on the previous site, as well as on our positions page. Scorchsoft helped us to identify these priorities and to implement solutions to these objectives.
We also liked the team's idea of creating ‘centre/category pages’ for each main role or subject area - Early years, Primary, Secondary jobs, etc., Each page with a tailored value proposition. These pages would only show the relevant job vacancies with the aim of improving SEO but also to help us run more targeted PPC and social campaigns.
For clients who source candidates from us, we needed the front-end to showcase our safeguarding practices, compliance accreditations, testimonials and for them to register their details with us – create an online account.
The website also enables candidates and clients to access new online portal features, enabling both candidates and customers to set up their own Flourish Education users accounts.
By having candidates create their online profile, they can fill in their career history, work skills, upload a CV, apply for jobs, input their availability for work, manage timesheets and so on.

Scorchsoft helped us with the tough decision of deciding whether to develop our portal from the ground up, use an off-the-shelf package or something in the middle. To get the best value for money, they recommended that we use third-party software to do most of the work, and then bridge any shortcomings by integrating with the software via its API (Application Interface). This method was an extension of our company CRM/Email software, so it proved great bank-for-buck.
The MatchMaker portal software provides interface rules for loading jobs in real-time. Automating job posting from the portal onto our website is a big advantage for us.
The next big decision was to decide how to build the site in a way that would support the integration with Matchmaker. Scorchsoft provided us with the options of using a selection open source content management systems such as Wordpress or using an open-source web software-development-framework such as Laravel or Yii2.
We were grateful to be able to trust in Scorchsoft's advice with this decision and opted to go with the Yii2 bespoke development framework as it enabled us to do the smart stuff in a way that is secure, but that also supports future extensions should we need them. Picking this option also meant that our CRM software could be easily integrated, so they act as one.
